Overview

T-Store® (Tissue Store) is a chemically defined medium for storing and shipping mammalian tissue samples and cells. It mimics the basic composition of interstitial fluid, which keeps the tissue’s acid-base balance stable. Tissue samples keep their genetic and histological profiles for up to 72 hours after removal, with less necrosis and apoptosis. Unlike tissue-specific solutions, T-Store works with a wide range of normal and malignant tissues.

Applications

  • Storing and transporting fresh tissue samples before analysis
  • Storing cells after dissociation, isolation or enrichment
  • Holding stem cells and peripheral blood cells without adding disruptive compounds

Key benefits

  • Ready to use neat, with no dilution needed
  • Works cold, at room temperature (+15 to +25 °C) or at body temperature
  • Holds pH between 7.15 and 8.20 from +2 °C to +37 °C
  • Works in aerobic or anaerobic conditions
  • Supports mitochondrial ATP generation in stored cells
  • Xeno-free, serum-free and DMSO-free
  • Endotoxin ≤ 1.0 EU/mL
  • Aseptically produced and sterility tested
  • Available in bottles from 50 mL to 1 L, or in custom collection containers

Quality and regulatory status

Standard T-Store formats are registered as a medical device with the MHRA and are UKCA and CE marked. Each batch is tested for pH, osmolality, sterility and conductivity (by EP/USP methods), endotoxin and functionality. Each shipment comes with a Certificate of Analysis, a Safety Data Sheet, a product information sheet and a declaration of conformity.

T-Store in published research

Researchers have used T-Store to transport patient tissue in published work, including:

These publications report researchers’ use of LSG products in their methods. Some name LSG as Life Science Production. Inclusion does not imply endorsement by the authors, and results depend on each study’s conditions.

Data

Quality control

Every batch is functionality tested with HEK cells before release. Across 14 batches, viability after 72 hours of storage stayed at about 95%, and cells recovered well afterwards. HEK cells kept normal morphology and stayed viable after 72 hours on the bench in T-Store.

Stability data

Four batches of T-Store were tested after 12 months at -20 °C, 8–12 months past their expiry date. All four passed the HEK293F functionality test:

  • Mean viability was 99% after 72 hours of storage and 93% after 48 hours of recovery.
  • Viable cell numbers after recovery were higher than the number stored, with a mean fold change of 1.1.

This is stability data, not a storage recommendation. Store T-Store at +2 to +8 °C.

T-Store compared with current practice

Stage Current practice With T-Store
Collection Biopsy dry, in saline, in gauze or formalin-fixed Immerse in T-Store at +2 to +8 °C
Transport Snap frozen, FFPE or fresh, which degrades over long journeys Up to 72 h on ice or at room temperature
Processing Fresh use immediately, otherwise only snap-frozen or FFPE Suits a wide range of downstream analyses
Outcome Molecular profiles may change Morphology and molecular structure retained

FAQs

How long can tissue be stored in T-Store?

Tissue keeps its genetic and histological profile for up to 72 hours. It can be kept on ice (0 to +4 °C) or at room temperature before processing. Most cells can be stored for up to 72 hours, and robust cell types for up to 96 hours.

How much T-Store do I need?

It depends on the size of the tissue and the container. For best results, submerge the sample fully.

How do I use T-Store for tissue samples?

Submerge tissue completely in T-Store straight after excision. Use a sterile, leak-proof container with no headspace and an excess volume of T-Store relative to the tissue. Adjust the volume to the sample size and your downstream application.

How do I use T-Store for cells?

  1. Dissociate adherent cells or harvest suspension cells, then count and check viability.
  2. Pellet at 180 × g for 5 minutes at room temperature. Resuspend in 3 mL of T-Store and pellet again.
  3. Resuspend in 2 mL of T-Store and transfer to a 2 mL cryotube.
  4. Store in the dark at room temperature for up to 72 hours, or 96 hours for robust cell types.
  5. Resuspend the cells and transfer them to complete growth medium. You don’t need to remove the T-Store first.
  6. Expect full recovery within 48 hours.

What cell viability can I expect after dissociation?

Cells isolated from tissue stored in T-Store usually recover well. Viability for splenocytes and bone marrow cells is typically above 90%.

Does T-Store affect downstream assays?

T-Store is xeno-free and contains no harsh chemicals that would penetrate the tissue and compromise later analysis.

Can I get a sample?

Yes. Sample batches are available on request. Email sales@lifesciencegroup.co.uk or call +44 1234 889180.
