Ethically sourced, fully traceable biospecimens
Human material
All human samples are collected under appropriate IRB approval with donor consent in place. Normal material comes from stringently screened donors at registered donor centres, who must test negative for RPR, HIV 1, HIV 2, Hepatitis B surface antigen, HCV and HIV 1-Ag using approved methods, have normal ALT levels, and pass a physical examination and verbal screening. Our collection centres in the USA, India and Europe offer normal and disease-state samples.
Animal material
Animal-derived products are typically sourced from laboratory animals bred under controlled conditions. Material is collected in the UK (unless stated) in fully registered facilities under veterinary supervision, from an extensive range of species and strains. Animals are fasted and drug naïve, giving high-quality material with minimal batch variation and complete traceability. Material is also available from a wide range of agricultural species classified fit for human consumption.

Serum
Unless requested otherwise, all serum is collected off the clot without additives or preservatives. Complement-preserved serum and lyophilised complement products are also available.
Plasma and Whole Blood
Prepared with the anticoagulant of your choice, including ACD, sodium or potassium EDTA (K2 or K3), CTAD, lithium or sodium heparin, sodium citrate, and potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride.
Tissues
Collected to customer specification and supplied fresh or frozen. Whole tissues or sections can be frozen, homogenised, or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE), and prepared to specific protocols.
Cell Extractions
Available from human donors and a wide variety of animal species, prepared to individual protocols. Supplied fresh, as buffy coats or as frozen cell separations. Fresh and cryopreserved leukopaks are also available.
Human Clinical Samples
Biofluids (blood, urine, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid and more), tissue biopsies and cells such as buffy coats and PBMCs, from normal healthy donors or donors with a specific disease state. Collected at registered facilities from fully consented donors.
Custom preparations
As well as blood products, we supply tissues and bodily fluids prepared to your protocol. Whole animal necropsy is also offered.

What biospecimens can Life Science Group supply?
We supply human and animal serum, plasma, whole blood, tissues, cell extractions (including buffy coats, PBMCs and leukopaks), biofluids and human clinical samples. Most material is prepared to order, and items not listed can often be sourced on request.
How are your human biospecimens sourced?

Can you supply disease-state samples?
Yes. Human clinical samples, including biofluids, tissue biopsies and cells, are available from donors diagnosed with a specific disease state as well as from normal healthy donors.
Which anticoagulants are available for plasma and whole blood?
Plasma and whole blood can be prepared with the anticoagulant of your choice. Standard options include ACD, sodium EDTA, potassium EDTA (K2 or K3), CTAD, lithium heparin, sodium heparin, sodium citrate and potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride.
Which animal species are available?
We supply material from an extensive range of laboratory animal species and strains, bred under controlled conditions and collected in the UK (unless stated) under veterinary supervision. Material is also available from a wide range of agricultural species.
Can tissues be supplied fresh, frozen or fixed?
Yes. Tissues are collected to your specification and supplied fresh or frozen. Whole tissues or sections can also be homogenised or supplied formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE), and whole animal necropsy is offered.
How long does delivery take?
Most biospecimens are prepared to order, so lead times vary by material and specification. Request a quotation or contact our team and we will confirm availability and timescales.
