Life Science Group (LSG) is an independent UK manufacturer of cell culture media, buffers, sera and transport media. From our site in Sandy, Bedfordshire, we supply research, diagnostic and bioprocessing customers, and manufacture custom liquids from trial batches up to 2,000 litres.

Life Science Group is a partner to the industry with a simple aim: to further science. As a proudly independent, UK-based company, we offer industry-leading customer care, because every customer matters to us.
We make ready-to-use reagents, including cell culture media, buffers, animal and human sera, and our CellShip and T-Store transport media. Our contract manufacturing team also produces custom formulations, backed by an ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality system and ISIA traceability certification.
We work from The Science Centre in Sandy, Bedfordshire, which houses our manufacturing, laboratory and warehouse space and our Grade C/D cleanrooms.
A message from our owner
I’ve spent my entire career working in cell culture sera, and it’s an industry I’ve always loved. As a founding member of the International Serum Industry Association, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Secretary, Chair, and Board Member for over 20 years. Along the way, I’ve worked with some of the greats in our field, and I’m incredibly grateful for the knowledge, experience, and friendships built over that time.
I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved at Life Science Group, and excited for what’s still to come. None of it would be possible without a dedicated team who genuinely care about supporting our customers in every way they can.

Our history
From a virtual antibody company in 2008 to a UK manufacturer with its own cleanroom facility.
- 2008Antibody Production ServicesLSG began as Antibody Production Services, a virtual company running de novo antibody generation projects using animal facilities in the UK.
- 2009First facility in SheffordWe acquired our first facility, in Shefford, and expanded into processing cell culture serum.
- 2014First LSG reagents launchedA move to a larger site in Wilden expanded our manufacturing. We launched our first reagent ranges for the UK and European research community.
- 2018CellShip developedThrough a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Coventry University, we developed CellShip, the first of our two proprietary transport media.
- 2020Supporting the COVID responseWe supported Public Health England’s COVID response, achieved ISO 13485 in record time and manufactured reagents for COVID testing programmes.
- 2021The Science Centre, SandyWe acquired The Science Centre in Sandy, giving us more manufacturing, laboratory and warehouse space.
- 2022Cleanroom operationsWe fitted out and commissioned two Grade C/D cleanrooms for GMP-aligned reagent manufacture.
- 2024Growing the teamWe continued to grow in the cell culture and molecular biology markets, expanding our team to support the larger operation.
