Overview

Normal Human Serum is pooled serum from healthy male and female donors of all ABO blood types, collected at FDA-licensed facilities in the United States. It is defibrinated from source plasma and 0.1 µm sterile-filtered, and every donor unit is tested for viral markers. Use it as a human serum supplement for cell culture, in further manufacturing, or as a normal human serum in research.

Why choose our Normal Human Serum?

  • Licensed US source: collected from healthy donors at FDA-licensed facilities
  • All blood types, both sexes: pooled from male and female donors of all ABO types
  • Viral tested: every donor unit is non-reactive for HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti-HIV-1/2, negative for syphilis, and not detected for HBV, HCV and HIV by NAT
  • Sterile filtered: 0.1 µm filtration, with bacteria, fungi and mycoplasma not detected
  • Quality tested: endotoxin below 10 EU/mL, haemoglobin below 20 mg/dL and osmolality 260–350 mOsm/kg, with a full biochemistry panel reported on the Certificate of Analysis
  • Long shelf life: five years from manufacture when stored frozen

Applications

  • Human serum supplement for cell culture
  • Raw material for further manufacturing
  • Normal human serum control, matrix or diluent in research and assay development

Handling tips

Thaw gradually, either at room temperature or overnight at 2–8 °C. Ideally use the whole bottle once thawed; otherwise, split it into single-use aliquots to keep freeze–thaw cycles to a minimum. Thawed serum may look slightly cloudy or contain precipitates. This is normal after freezing and doesn’t affect culture performance.

FAQs

How is this serum produced?

It is defibrinated from source plasma collected from healthy donors at FDA-licensed facilities in the United States, then 0.1 µm sterile-filtered.

Can I use it for cell culture?

Yes. It is intended for cell culture, further manufacturing and research use. It is not for direct therapeutic use. As with any serum, we recommend testing it with your cells first.

Which blood types are included?

The serum comes from male and female donors of all ABO blood types. If you need serum from blood group AB donors only, see our Human AB Serum range.

Which viral markers are tested?

Every donor unit is tested and found non-reactive for HBsAg, anti-HCV and anti-HIV-1/2, negative for syphilis, and not detected for HBV, HCV and HIV by NAT.

How should I store and thaw it?

Store frozen at -20 to -10 °C, where it has a shelf life of five years from manufacture. Thaw gradually at room temperature or overnight at 2–8 °C, and aliquot into single-use volumes if you won’t use the whole bottle.

Why does my serum look cloudy after thawing?

Slight cloudiness or precipitates can form during freezing and thawing. This is normal and doesn’t affect culture performance.
